L-Arginine HCL – Arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid that in the body helps form nitric oxide, urea, protein, creatine and stimulates the release of growth hormones.2 Arginine HCL, is a synthetically manufactured form of arginine that is combined with a hydrogen chloride molecule. 3 It’s claimed to increase nutrient absorption.

L-Arginine Alpha Keto Glutarate – Similar to Arginine HCL, arginine alpha keto glutarate (AAKG) is two compounds that have been synthetically combined. Alpha keto glutarate is an intermediate in the Krebs cycle and derived from the amino acid glutamine.4 As an anionic salt, AAKG has increased absorption in the gastrointestinal track and is claimed to improve muscle mass and strength.4

Citrulline Malate – A non-essential amino acid, citrulline can help delay fatigue, increase endurance, and promotes heart health. In the body, citrulline is converted into arginine by the kidneys and helps increase nitric oxide production and clear excess ammonia. Citrulline malate is the chemical form of citrulline often found in dietary supplements. It’s claimed to stimulate human growth hormone, support muscle mass and improve body composition.5

Pump 2400 Directions

According to the Pump 2400 label, on training days users should take three capsules in the morning and if needed three capsules in the afternoon on an empty stomach. Users are encouraged to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day while taking Pump 2400.

Supplementing with arginine may cause gastrointestinal discomfort such as bloating or an upset stomach. In the body, arginine may cause a change in blood sugar levels. Nitric oxide supplements may change the body’s balance of electrolytes after chronic use. Users with kidney disease, liver disease or are those taking blood thinners should avoid using these supplements.7

Does Pump 2400 Work?

In the body, increased arginine levels support protein synthesis and improves ammonia recycling.2,4 When engaging in a strength training program, increased protein synthesis is essential to building muscle mass.

With less than 3 grams of arginine, users might not experience increased muscle mass from taking Pump 2400 on its own, but when combined with training and adequate amounts of protein, may see improved results.

With 2400 mg of arginine and citrulline combined, users will likely experience a minor increase in energy and improved nitric oxide circulation. However, standard doses tend to start at 3 g per serving.6

While citrulline has been noted to delay fatigue, enhance endurance, and reduce post workout muscle soreness, clinical trials have typically started at a dose of 6 g.8 This is a considerably larger dose than what is used in the Pump 2400 formula.
