Nature Boost Ultra Lean

What is Nature Boost Ultra Lean? Distributed by Nature Boost, the proprietary Ultra Lean formula is a natural dietary supplement that is marketed as a weight loss aid.7

In Nature Boost Ultra Lean, Garcinia cambogia plays a central role. The product’s main active ingredient is Garcinia extract—an extract derived from the Garcinia cambogia fruit which is thought to be a slimming agent.

The manufacturers of this product make several claims about the effects of Ultra Boost, explaining that it will suppress your appetite, block fat production, help you lose weight naturally, and flatten your belly.7

In this honest and unsponsored Nature Boost Ultra Lean review informed by scientific studies, we explain what this supplement is, what the active ingredients are, and how its ingredients have (or have not) contributed to weight loss results.

Nature Boost Ultra Lean Ingredients

The Nature Boost Ultra Lean supplement has only a handful of ingredients, making this a relatively straightforward supplement to examine. Like many products that use Garcinia extract, there are several additional active ingredients—in this case, a handful of minerals—that are intended to further support the supplement’s potential weight loss activities.

The product has only nine ingredients in total, four of which are active: Garcinia cambogia extract, Calcium, Potassium, and Chromium. In the section below, we breakdown and explain the function of the product’s four central ingredients.

Garcinia cambogia extract: A substance derived from a plant native to South Asia, the fruit of the Garcinia Cambogia plant looks like a pumpkin and has a light green rind. It has been used for centuries in traditional South Asian recipes, contributing a lemon-like taste, and it has also been used to make meals more filling.2 Research suggests that HCA causes weight loss by inhibiting certain enzyme activity (adenosine triphosphatase-citrate-lyase).1 This particular enzyme is responsible for the conversion of carbohydrates into stored body fat. One study also concluded that HCA increases serotonin in the brain, resulting in appetite suppression.1

The extract used in Ultra Lean comes from the rind of the Garcinia Cambogia fruit and is called hydroxycitric acid (or HCA).

Research examining the various studies conducted on Garcinia extract concluded that the extract does produce short-term weight loss.1 However, long-term effects have yet to be examined, and the research emphasizes the need for more in-depth studies of longer duration.1

Calcium: A mineral important for bone health. You might wonder why a mineral important for bone health would be included in a weight loss supplement. In fact, calcium may have an effect on body weight. One study seeking to understand the relationship between calcium and body weight explored whether a diet high in calcium would prevent weight gain or even promote weight loss. The study found that supplementing calcium in the participants’ diets did not produce statistically significant weight loss effects. However, they did conclude that the small weight loss effect observed in the study suggested that calcium may have a reliable weight loss effect when measured over the long term.4

Potassium: A mineral and electrolyte, it is likely that potassium is included in this weight loss formula due to its relationship with blood pressure. Accumulated evidence from dietary studies that examine the relationship between sodium, potassium, and blood pressure support the conclusion that a diet low in sodium and high in potassium result in lower blood pressure.5 Scientific research has also found a complex relationship between factors such as reduced body weight, increased potassium, increased exercise, reduced sodium, and lower blood pressure.6 Because of the role that potassium plays in the relationship with lower body weight and blood pressure, it’s likely that the potassium included in the Ultra Lean formula is intended to enhance the supplement’s weight loss effect as an agent lowering the body’s blood pressure.

Chromium: A mineral and essential nutrient that the body requires for normal metabolic functions, including the chemical breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.3 It is often included in supplements intended for weight loss or body fat reduction. It increases insulin activity, in turn lowering blood glucose levels, and is believed to act as an appetite suppressant.3 In addition, Chromium is said to stimulate the production of body heat, which increases energy expenditure—this activity may contribute directly to the mineral’s weight loss effect.3

While not comprehensive, one study found that participants who took doses of chromium picolinate lost 1 kilogram more body weight during the study than participants who had been taking a placebo.3

Nature Boost Ultra Lean directions on the product website instruct users to take 1 Ultra Lean capsule twice or three times per day.

Nature Boost Ultra Lean Side Effects

There are no side effects of Nature Boost Ultra Lean listed on the supplement’s advertising or packaging.7 The main active ingredient HCA is thought to be safe for human consumption, as 17 clinical studies involving 873 participants provided evidence that consumption of HCA alone did not produce any adverse side effects.2 The researchers point out that in humans, a daily serving of up to 2800 mg per day has been determined to be a safe dosage with no adverse effects.2

It’s worth noting, however, that anecdotal evidence of garcinia extract side effects include complaints of headaches, nausea, and digestive discomfort. Although uncomfortable, it may be that the side effects of this natural extract are less pronounced than those caused by pharmaceutical drugs for weight loss, such as Sibutramine, Rimonabant, Orlistat, and Phentermine.2

Does Nature Boost Ultra Lean work?

Short-term studies that examine the relationship between Garcinia extract and weight loss concluded that Garcinia extract did indeed have at least a short-term weight loss effect.1 This weight loss effect is not specific to Nature Boost Ultra Lean results, but to Garcinia extract by itself.

The manufacturers of this product claim that Ultra Lean will act as an appetite suppressant, fat blocking agent, metabolism booster, belly flattening agent, and weight loss aid.7
