Looking to increase muscle mass and size? BioMuscle XR is one of the latest workout supplements claiming to activate increased muscle growth and enhance athletic performance.
With scientifically-researched ingredients, this formula contains no fillers and is designed to improve athletic endurance, enhance performance and promote muscle growth. BioMuscle appears to be distributed by a company that goes by the same name, but we were unable to find an official company website.
BioMuscle XR Ingredients
On the current Bio Muscle website, for unknown reasons there is no complete list of ingredients available. While the site discusses several key ingredients (nitric oxide, arginine and creatine) no dose is provided.
After some investigation, we have uncovered that BioMuscle XR combines five active ingredients in their proprietary blend. Below, we explain how these ingredients work in the body to possibly improve your sports performance and recovery.
L-Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate 2-1 –L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate combines arginine and alpha ketoglutarate, a salt derived from glutamine with glutamate sparing and ergogenic (performance-enhancing) properties. The two are combined with the goal of increasing nitric oxide (N.O.) production, which can influence muscle growth, improve blood flow, and promote muscle endurance.2
L-Arginine – L-arginine is a conditionally essential amino acid involved in protein metabolism, hormone secretion, creatine production and triggers nitric oxide production, which widens and relaxes blood vessels.3,4 In the body, arginine can help delay fatigue and active the immune system.4
L-Arginine Monohydrochloride – Arginine monohydrochloride is a salt of arginine and a precursor of nitric oxide. This form of arginine is believed to increase the absorption of the amino acid, and perhaps strengthen the effect.5
L-Citrulline – Another amino acid, citrulline is also converted into arginine in the body. Used to increase endurance, reduce fatigue and improve ammonia recycling, citrulline can also benefit cardiovascular health. In recent studies, 6,000 mg of citrulline appears to be the minimum dose to improve sports performance and endurance.6,10
Dipotassium Phosphate – Dipotassium phosphate is a phosphate salt that is claimed to boost athletic performance by enhancing blood flow to muscles. Preliminary research indicates that taking phosphate salts four times daily improves sports performance modestly in male cyclists.7

According to the BioMuscle XR Growth Accelerator label, users should take two capsules, 1-2 times daily for optimal results.

Supplementing with arginine has been reported to potentially cause gastrointestinal issues, including abdominal pain, diarrhea, and bloating.8,9 In higher doses, arginine has also been observed to affect blood sugar levels and lower blood pressure.9 Phosphate salts may irritate the digestive tract and cause diarrhea, constipation or upset stomach. When taken over time, phosphate salts may disrupt the natural balance of phosphate in the body.7
Does BioMuscle XR Work?
Based upon the most recent scientific research, and known dosages, we explain which of this product’s claims have evidence to support them.
In the body, arginine can trigger N.O. production, improve blood flow and increase insulin hormone levels. To enhance sports performance and body composition, scientific research has used doses ranging from 3-21 g. This range has been noted to enhance endurance and improve protein synthesis, which can lead to an increase in muscle size.8
When taking BioMuscle XR, users may notice a small increase in energy. In the body, BioMuscle may increase blood flow to a minor extent. After extended supplementation, arginine and citrulline may enhance the immune system in some users.6,8
